PSV beats Ajax 2-1 in Eredivisie, Feyenoord wins to go 2nd
AMSTERDAM (AP) Uruguayan midfielder Gaston Pereiro celebrated his debut in PSV Eindhoven’s starting lineup by scoring twice Sunday as the defending Eredivisie champion beat Ajax 2-1 in Amsterdam.
Pereiro struck early and late – in the 7th and 79th minutes – to hand Ajax its first league defeat of the season. Amin Younes scored his first Ajax goal three minutes after Pereiro’s opener.
Ajax remained top of the league and PSV went fourth, two points behind Frank de Boer’s team.
Feyenoord beat last-placed De Graafschap Doetinchem 2-1 to go second, level on points with Ajax.
A 14th-minute own goal by Sven van Beek gave De Graafschap a lead it held until five minutes into the second half, when Michiel Kramer equalized. Winger Eljero Elia grabbed the winner in the 70th minute.
