Peru, Czech Republic draw 0-0 in Kirin Cup
Peru and the Czech Republic finished in a goalless draw in the
Kirin Cup on Saturday.
Peru had the best scoring chance late in the match when
substitute Jefferson Farfan hit the post with a header in the 83rd
”We created a lot of chances, more than the Czech team so from
that standpoint I am happy,” Peru coach Sergio Markarian said.
”We had a young team here and I was able to get a good assessment
of what they can do.”
Schalke forward Farfan also went close midway through the second
half with a free kick from the top of the area that sailed just
over the crossbar.
Czech goalkeeper Petr Cech was forced to make a diving save
against Luis Advincula in the final minute of the first half.
Czech coach Michal Bilek credited the Chelsea ‘keeper for
keeping his team in the match.
”Peru was very fast and passed the ball well,” Bilek said.
