Paraguay names World Cup squad for friendly
Paraguay coach Gerardo Martino named most of the team that
reached the quarterfinals of the World Cup for a friendly against
Costa Rica on Wednesday in Asuncion.
The only absence will be midfielder Diego Barreto, who is out
with an injury. He will be replaced by Osvaldo Martinez of the
Mexican club Monterrey.
The game will be played to honor Paraguay footballer Salvador
Cabanas, who survived a gunshot wound to the head on Jan. 25 in a
bar in Mexico City. He played for Mexican club America. He has been
undergoing treatment at a rehabilitation clinic in the Argentine
capital Buenos Aires.
