New Partizan goalkeeper gets death threats

Former Red Star Belgrade goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic has been

receiving death threats after signing for bitter rivals

Partizan.

Red Star fans have published an obituary on a sports forum

website following Stojkovic’s move earlier this week from Sporting

Lisbon.

”I understand Red Star fans, but publishing my obituary is a

bit too much,” Stojkovic said on Tuesday.

Stojkovic, who played for Wigan on loan from Sporting in the

English Premier League last season, said he will not hire

bodyguards despite the death threats. He played for Serbia at the

World Cup, but has asked to be omitted from the national team until

he regains form.
