Mikel: Ancelotti went mad at us

John Obi Mikel has revealed Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti read

his side the riot act during half-time of their FA Cup win over

Cardiff.

The Blues went in level at 1-1 at the break at Stamford

Bridge before running out comfortable 4-1 winners to book their

place in the quarter-finals.

Ancelotti was not happy with Chelsea’s first-half performance

against Cardiff and Nigerian ace Mikel admits the Italian went

“crazy” with the players.

“When we went back into the dressing room the manager was

crazy, so we went into the second half knowing what we had to do,”

said Mikel.

“He went mad at us. He shouted at us in English and Italian –

everything. When he’s mad he mixes everything up.

“We knew we could do better. But we came out in the second

half and that’s what we gave him.”

Mikel also admitted Chelsea need to improve their away form

if they want to maintain their push for glory on three fronts.

Chelsea remain unbeaten at home this season, but have just

one win in their last six games away from Stamford Bridge.

Mikel knows their away form has to improve and he is

confident they can get results on their travels.

“Our away form is something that we need to sort out,” added

Mikel.

“We need to speak about it, but we know what we can do. We

know what our players are capable of.

“If you look at us, we have some big players in this team,

and when things are not going well, we know how to sort things out

and put things right.

“We have got a very good manager, a very experienced manager

who is going to put things right for us. We have to try and win all

our games from now on.”
