Messi among 7 Barcelona regulars rested at Malaga

Lionel Messi is among seven Barcelona regulars rested for the

Spanish champion’s last league game on Saturday with the Champions

League final looming.

Coach Pep Guardiola opted to leave out the Argentina forward and

striker David Villa, midfielders Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta,

defenders Gerard Pique and Carles Puyol and goalkeeper Victor

Valdes for the game at Malaga.

Barcelona, which clinched its third straight league title with

two games to spare, plays Manchester United in the May 28 final at

Wembley.

Messi has scored 52 goals in 54 appearances this season but none

since his brace in the 2-0 Champions League first-leg win at Real

Madrid – a stretch of four games.
