Malaga closes in on UCL group stage

Malaga closed in on the Champions League group stages with a 2-0 playoff first-leg victory over Panathinaikos, while BATE Borisov also won.

First-half goals from Martin Demichelis and Eliseu gave Malaga a comfortable triumph in Spain, with Belarusian champions BATE also winning 2-0 over Ironi Kiryat Shmona.
