Kawasaki beats Urawa 1-0 to keep J-League title hopes alive

SAITAMA, Japan (AP) Yu Kobayashi scored in the first half Wednesday to help Kawasaki Frontale beat Urawa Reds 1-0 and keep its J-League title hopes alive.

Kobayashi took a pass from Akihiro Ienaga in the 14th minute and beat Urawa goalkeeper Shusaku Nishikawa with a right-footed shot.

Kawasaki improved to 69 points, two behind defending champion Kashima Antlers with one game remaining. Kawasaki faces Omiya Ardija at home on Saturday while Kashima travels to Jubilo Iwata.

Kashima is bidding for its record ninth J-League championship while Kawasaki is hoping to win the title for the first time.
