Jim Gabarra resigns as coach of WPS Freedom

Jim Gabarra has resigned as head coach of the Washington Freedom

after a first-round exit in the Women’s Professional Soccer

playoffs.

Gabarra first coached the Freedom in August 2000, winning 65

games during stints from 2001-03 and 2007-10. He coached the team

to the 2003 WUSA Founders Cup championship.

The Freedom says a search for a new coach will begin

immediately.
