India to capitalize on Blatter visit

Indian soccer administrators are eager to use an upcoming visit

by FIFA president Sepp Blatter to give an impetus to the sport in

the cricket-crazy country.

All India Football Federation secretary-general Kushal Das said

Thursday that Blatter would visit India on March 9 in what is being

seen by the AIFF as a chance to showcase the potential of soccer in

the country of 1.2 billion people, as well as to ask for ”more

quantum of support.”

Das said ”FIFA sees huge potential for the game in India” and

that the national body would also push India’s case for hosting the

under-17 World Cup in 2017, which will guarantees the home team’s

participation.
