Ilan’s Hammers talks on hold

West Ham striker Ilan will not start thinking about opening talks

with the club over a long-term contract until the season is over.

After losing six straight games, the Hammers had looked

destined for relegation, but the forward has bagged two goals in

two games to help drag Gianfranco Zola’s side up to 16th in the

Premier League – four points ahead of Burnley.

The Brazil international is on loan from French cub Saint

Etienne until the end of the season and West Ham striker Carlton

Cole spoke recently of how pleased he was to be playing alongside

the 29-year-old.

Ilan is confident that the Hammers will now be able to

maintain their top flight status but has warned that negotiations

about his future will have to wait until the season ends.

“We’ve produced a good performance at Everton and got a home

victory. We’ve got some momentum, we’re more together, more

confident about getting out of this situation,” Ilan told West

Ham’s website.

“I will do everything I can to help West Ham and then when

the season is over we will sit down and talk about the future.”
