Hull fires manager Phil Brown

Phil Brown was fired as manager of Hull with the club in 19th

place in the Premier League and in danger of relegation.

Brown took over from Phil Parkinson in January 2007 and led Hull

to the top division for the first time in its 104-year history in

2008-09, beating Bristol City in a playoff.

The Tigers are 5-15-9 for 24 points with nine games left, five

points ahead of last-place Portsmouth and three points behind

17th-place Wolverhampton, the last club above the relegation

Brown brought in American forward Jozy Altidore on loan for this

“Thanks to Phil Brown for all he did for Hull,” Altidore wrote

Monday on Twitter.

Brian Horton and Steve Parkin were put in temporary charge.
