Holt prepared to bide his time

The striker came off the bench to score for the third time this

season at Loftus Road on Saturday, sealing a 2-1 Premier League win

over Rangers. But while the 30-year-old is keen to return to Paul

Lambert’s first-choice line-up, he understands the manager’s

decision to rotate his squad. Holt told The Sun: “Of course I want

to start, but in this division it is a squad game. “No-one ever

plays 11 men for the whole season – it’s too physically

challenging. That’s why the manager brought in a lot of bodies in

the summer. “We have people like Zak Whitbread, Daniel Ayala, Simon

Lappin and Adam Drury in the stands – that’s what you need.”
