Hamburg signs Italy youth Jacopo Sala from Chelsea

Hamburger SV has signed Italy Under-19 midfielder Jacopo Sala

from Chelsea.

The Bundesliga club said on its website on Friday that

19-year-old Sala signed a three-year contract after undergoing a

medical. No fee was disclosed.

Sala, who emerged from Atalanta Bergamo’s youth system before

making the switch to England at 15, played on the right of midfield

for Chelsea’s reserve side last season.

Hamburg’s new sporting director Frank Arnesen told the club’s

website, ”Jacopo is a player for the future.”

Arnesen, who took over at Hamburg after deciding not to renew

his contract with Chelsea, added, ”He has played through all the

Italian youth teams and possesses outstanding physical and

technical abilities.”
