Gerrard ruled out for up to month after surgery

Steven Gerrard will miss key matches for Liverpool and England

after being ruled out for up to a month following groin

surgery.

Liverpool will be without its captain for at least three Premier

League matches as the sixth-place team tries to rise up the

standings.

The Reds will also have to overturn a 1-0 deficit next Thursday

against Braga in the Europa League without the midfielder, who

missed the first leg on Thursday.

Gerrard will miss England’s 2012 European Championship qualifier

against Wales on March 26 and a friendly against Ghana on March

29.

Friday’s statement from Liverpool announced that ”Gerrard has

undergone successful surgery on his groin and will be out for up to

four weeks.”
