Ferguson keen on McCann stay

McCann, a former Posh captain, was put on the transfer list

towards the end of last season.

The 32-year-old Northern Ireland international has been involved

in the starting line-up in recent weeks and Ferguson confirmed that

he is no longer available for transfer.

“Grant’s attitude has been very good and he has been playing

well so that is why I have made the decision,” Ferguson told the

club’s official website.

“If he continues playing well then we may sit down about a new

contract, but at the minute, he is off the list and we will see how

things go,”

McCann will want to continue with his from, to cement a place in

Ferguson’s plans.

“I feel I came back fit in pre-season and I wanted to get my

head down, train hard and try and get into the team. I don’t want

to use the injury I had last season as an excuse, but I felt I came

back too soon and you learn from that. I didn’t play well in the

second half of last season by my own admission.

“I am off the list, but I am not getting carried away. I just

want to continue in the team and hopefully play well,” McCann
