Fenlon pleased with momentum

Hibernian manager Pat Fenlon was pleased with the momentum his

side are building up ahead of the Scottish Cup final after they

beat Dundee.

David Wotherspoon’s header gave Hibs a 1-0 victories at Easter

Road to make it three wins out of three ahead of their showdown

with Celtic at Hampden next Sunday.

The last time Fenlon’s team lost was against their final

opponents at the start of April.

The Irishman said: “We were looking for a performance and we got

one of them. I was pleased to pick up three points, no injuries and

a decent performance.

“We probably couldn’t ask for any more. We spoke about that when

we won the semi-final, to give ourselves momentum and confidence

going into the final.

“The players have responded very well because it could have been

easy to limp our way through to the final but we have had some

decent performances along the way.”

Wotherspoon did not even make the bench for last season’s final

defeat by Hearts and his goal has given him a chance of making up

for that this season.

“It was a fantastic finish, a great ball from Lewis and a great

header,” Fenlon said. “I’m delighted for him because he has been up

and down this season a little bit but he’s a good lad and works

very hard. I didn’t think he could head a ball that well to be

honest but it was a fantastic finish.”
