BOURNEMOUTH, England — Bournemouth says manager Eddie Howe has signed a contract extension with the Premier League club.

Howe guided the Cherries to the top flight for the first time in the club’s history after winning the second tier last season.

Howe already had a contract with the club for the next 2 1/2 years. The extension will take him past 2018, and reportedly until 2020.

The 37-year-old Howe says ”it means everything to have the supporters and the current people above me support me.”

Bournemouth is currently in 15th place in the Premier League after collecting eight points from its opening eight matches.
