Maradona, who guided Argentina to World Cup victory in 1986, and his girlfriend, Veronica Ojeda, were both taken to a hospital in the neighborhood of Ezeiza, near his home, where the accident happened.
Initial reports suggested Maradona had injured his knee and Ojeda her hip, but doctors later said both were fine.
"It is nothing serious," said Maradona’s doctor Alfredo Cahe, according to AFP.
Cahe’s prognosis was backed up by hospital director Oscar Sico.
"Maradona is fine, he suffered virtually no whiplash. They were taken [to the] hospital as a precaution but have no problems. They can both go home."
According to the Buenos Aires Herald, the 50-year-old Maradona was on his way to visit his mother, who is in a critical condition in a Buenos Aires hospital.
Maradona said last week that his 81-year-old mother, who is known by her nickname Dona Tota, was seriously ill and on a ventilator after suffering a virus.
