Defender Gebre Selassie to move to Werder

Czech Republic defender Theodor Gebre Selassie has agreed to

move from Czech champion Liberec to Werder Bremen in the

Bundesliga.

Gebre Selassie’s agent Viktor Kolar announced the transfer on

Friday, a day after the Czech Republic was knocked out from the

European Championship in Poland and Ukraine after a 1-0 loss to

Portugal in the quarterfinals.

Both clubs have approved the move and Werder will sign Gebre

Selassie to a 4-year contract after he undergoes a medical in

Germany.

The 25-year-old has been a regular starter since he joined the

national team last year for a 0-0 draw against Peru in a

friendly.

He helped the Czechs qualify for the Euros and was one of their

best players at the tournament.
