Czech Republic and Portugal 0-0 at halftime

The Czech Republic stifled the creative flair of Cristiano

Ronaldo with tight marking to keep the score 0-0 at halftime

against Portugal on Thursday in the European Championship

quarterfinals.

Ronaldo wandered from left to right and back again looking for

space, but beyond hitting the post in injury time, he exemplified

Portuguese frustration.

Despite the absence of injured captain Tomas Rosicky and the

inclusion of several inexperienced internationals, the Czech

Republic often controlled the flow of play and sometimes even

threatened the goal of Rui Patricio.

To add to Portuguese worries, striker Helder Postiga had to be

stretchered off with an apparent right hamstring injury in the 40th

minute.
