Corinthians return home to cheering fans

Thousands of chanting, dancing and singing Corinthians fans have

taken over a large square in Sao Paulo in an open-air party to

honor the return of the team from its Club World Cup triumph in

Japan.

The team, one of Brazil’s most popular, arrived back home early

Tuesday and was taken by bus to downtown Sao Paulo, where it was

greeted by Mayor Gilberto Kassab.

The players then boarded a sound truck blaring the team’s

anthem, and were the showpiece of a victory parade on streets and

avenues lined with fans wearing the team’s black and white

colors.

Defender Fabio Santos told the Globo TV network, ”To feel the

emotions and excitement of all these fans is priceless.”

Corinthians beat Chelsea 1-0 in the final in Tokyo on

Sunday.
