City loses injured Komapny for up to 2 weeks

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini says captain Vincent

Kompany could be out for up to two weeks after injuring his calf in

the 1-0 loss to Sporting Lisbon in the last 16 of the Europa

League.

The Belgium center back limped off in the seventh minute of

Thursday’s first leg in the Portuguese capital.

Mancini says ”I hope he can recover in 10 days, two weeks

maximum. We will see how it is in another one or two days.”

Kompany, who has been one of City’s outstanding performers this

season, will definitely miss Sunday’s match at Swansea in the

Premier League.

City is top of the Premier League standings with 11 games to go,

two points clear of Manchester United, as the club goes in search

of a first English title since 1968.
