Celtic win the Scottish Premiership for 6th straight year, this time with 8 matches left

Celtic are the unquestioned kings of Scotland. Again.

The Scottish giants took home the Scottish Premiership title once again, making it six straight seasons that they are the champions of Scotland. And as was the case in each of the previous five years, there wasn't much of a competition.

Celtic won the title this time around with eight matches left to play. They beat Hearts, 5-0, on Sunday to wrap up the championship in anti-climactic fashion. Celtic have dropped just four points all season.

The season is not yet done for Celtic, though. They are two-thirds of the way to the domestic treble, having won the League Cup already, but the Scottish Cup is still to be determined. They will play rivals Rangers in the semifinals later this month as they try to win the treble for the first time since 2000/01.

More than that, Celtic are trying to become the first Scottish team to go a full season unbeaten since Rangers did it in the 19th century.

In all, it's been a terrific season for Celtic in Brendan Rodgers' first year at the helm. It may not be surprising to see such dominance anymore -- Celtic haven't been challenged ever since Rangers went broke and had to play in the fourth division -- but that's not Celtic's problem. All they can do is win, and they're certainly doing that.
