Bayern issue Schweinsteiger hands-off

Bayern Munich have issued a hands-off warning to any club who

might be considering an attempt to sign Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The Germany midfielder has been one of the best players at this

summer’s World Cup, enhancing his reputation during his country’s

charge to Wednesday’s semi-final with Spain.

Schweinsteiger has been a star in the Bundesliga for several

years, but opinion in the rest of Europe had suggested that his

career had stalled slightly since the 2006 World Cup.

However, alongside compatriots Philipp Lahm and Thomas Muller,

the 25-year-old’s stock has rocketed and he has been linked with

Chelsea and Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid.

Bayern, though, have no intention of selling, with sporting

director Karl-Heinz Rummenigge telling Sportinformationsdienst:

“Whoever is thinking of Schweinsteiger, Lahm or Muller can forget

about calling us.

“We already said after the final of the Champions League that we

weren’t going to let anybody leave, and we have shown that with

(Franck) Ribery.”
