Australia formally joins ASEAN Football Federation
Football Federation Australia says it has been admitted as a
full member of the ASEAN Football Federation after a regional
meeting in East Timor.
Australia joined the Asian Football Confederation in 2006 and
now has been formally integrated into the southeast Asian
federation, one of four regional groups in the continental football
AFF secretary general Azzuddin Ahmad said in a statement issued
by FFA that Australia ”today joins the other 11 countries of AFF
as an equal, and we look forward to working closely with Australia
in the years to come.”
Australia is due to host the Asian Cup in 2015.
