Aston Villa v Liverpool preview

Aston Villa caretaker Gary McAllister has no fresh injury worries

ahead of the game. Villa have a clean bill of health as they look

to finish the season as the Midlands’ leading club. They are

currently one point adrift of West Brom, who visit Newcastle.

Record signing Darren Bent will be looking to take his Villa goal

tally into double figures after netting nine in 15 games since his

switch from Sunderland in January which could ultimately cost the

club £24million. Liverpool are set to be boosted by the return

of Raul Meireles, who missed last weekend’s defeat to Tottenham

with a minor injury but has returned to full fitness. Meireles’

return could mean Andy Carroll, who has missed two of the last four

matches because of a knee injury, dropping to the bench. Aston
