Legia Warsaw youngster Krystian Bielik is close to joining Arsenal.

The 17-year-old midfielder will undergo a medical on Friday and should wrap up a move in the next few days for a fee believed to be in the region of £2million ($3million).

The north London club reportedly failed with a £1.6m offer for the defensive midfielder, but Arsenal returned with a second bid this week.

The transfer could be completed before Arsenal’s game at Manchester City on Sunday.

Speaking to the Legia Warsaw official website, Bielik said: "I am going to London to fulfil my dreams. I hope I will become an Arsenal player soon."

Warsaw’s manager, the former Manchester United defender Henning Berg, told Sky Sports News HQ that Bielik "does not have any weaknesses".

He said: "He’s a physical player with good skills. He has very good understanding of the game and match mentality. Krystian is quite far ahead of other players at his age."
