Ajax boost title hopes with rout

Siem De Jong, Urby Emanuelson and Marko Pantelic put the hosts in

complete control midway through the second half. A Balazs Dzsudzsak

penalty reduced the arrears with three minutes to go but Ajax had

the final say when the prolific Luis Suarez made it 4-1. PSV, who

hold the final Champions League qualifying spot, remain five points

behind leaders FC Twente. Fourth-placed Feyenoord were held to a

1-1 draw at home to Heracles Almelo. Everton gave the visitors the

lead after 82 minutes but the Rotterdammers hit back to salvage a

point thanks to Ron Vlaar. Vitesse Arnhem remain in relegation

trouble after losing 1-0 at home to Heerenveen – Roy Beerens

netting the only goal with seven minutes to go. Vitesse are now

just a point ahead of Willem II, who hold the final spot in the

relegation/promotion play-offs. Willem beat Sparta Rotterdam 3-1

this afternoon with Stefan Nijland scoring twice. His double came

after Frank Demouge had put the hosts ahead. A late Rydell Poepon

penalty was Sparta’s sole reply.
