The centre-back has agreed a one-year contract at The Valley

after impressing while on trial during pre-season, most notably in

a friendly against Crawley Town.

And boss Chris Powell is relishing starting the new campaign

with the 24-year-old, who should be eligible for the season opener

against Birmingham City on Sunday, subject to international

clearance being received.

“We’re delighted to get Dorian on board and he will enhance our

squad,” said Powell.

“He has done very well during his trial period, and we feel he

will bring extra quality to our ranks. We’re very pleased and look

forward to working with him.”

Dervite becomes Powell’s fourth signing of the summer after

Jordan Cook, Salim Kerkar and Lawrie Wilson and will compete for a

central defensive role with Matt Taylor, Leon Cort and Yado

The ex-France youth international started his career with French

side Lille and made the switch to Spurs’ academy in 2006 where he

made only one appearance for the side.

Following a successful loan spell with Southend United in 2009,

Dervite joined Villarreal and has played 23 league games for

Villarreal B over the past two seasons.
