City skipper frustrated with Cup draw

Manchester City captain Kolo Toure admitted his frustration after

his side were held to a 1-1 draw by Stoke in the fifth round of the

FA Cup.

City got off to a bright start thanks to a gift of a goal

from Stoke, scored by Shaun Wright-Phillips, but they failed to

build on it and were punished by a trademark Rory Delap throw-in,

headed in by Ricardo Fuller.

“I think it was a really physical game,” Toure told ITV1.

“Delap, with his throw, to concede a goal in that situation

is very difficult because we were expecting that and we didn’t deal

very well with it at the back.”

City’s second-half display was in stark contrast to their

early brightness, when they looked like having the pace and width

to trouble the visitors.

“We knew it was always going to be a tough game coming up

against them,” said Wright-Phillips.

“We thought we needed to get in behind them to stretch them

and that’s what we did.”
