Reduced role Saul has come off the bench in two of his last three appearances, logging nine minutes in the Sept. 18 loss to Real Madrid.

Impact Saul hasn't played for more than 62 minutes in any of his seven appearances this season and interestingly two of his starts have come as a left-back. With decent defensive production thanks to 13 tackles made, Saul can still offer some useful value, but a restriction on his minutes reflects the lack of form he's suffered from dating back to last season.

Impact Niguez started at left-back on Monday and held his own after a disappointing loan spell with Chelsea last season. Yannick Carrasco and Renan Lodi will likely be the preferred options in the position moving forward and there's plenty of competition for his more natural midfield spots as well, but he proved against Getafe that he can still have a role on this Atletico team.

It's unknown what the future holds for him, but it probably won't be in the Premier League.
