Impact Gameiro already returned a first negative test and awaits word on a second before his recovery and return to group training is confirmed. He'll find himself in a harder battle for starting opportunities as Maxi Gomez remains the first choice striker, so there's only one spot left for Gameiro, Kang-In Lee and recent arrival Patrick Cutrone.

Tests positive for COVID-19 Gameiro was the positive COVID-19 test that Valencia announced Monday, according to David Torres of El Desmarque.

Impact Gameiro was the notable absence from the Copa del Rey squad that lost to Valencia and this helped to verify who tested positive when club protocol doesn't permit them to announce the name themselves. Manu Vallejo and Kang-In Lee have already taken many of the starts in the second forward spot so the loss of Gameiro shouldn't cause a reduction in fantasy value for anyone else.

Available Thursday Gameiro (hamstring) made the squad list for Thursday's match against Osasuna.

Impact Gameiro has been out for the past two weeks with a hamstring injury but could get away with only missing one league match due to Cup responsibilities. He started two straight matches before this injury and will now compete with Kang-In Lee for a spot as the second forward next to Maxi Gomez. Between those two players, one goal and four assists have been recorded this season, which is not a great tally when compared to Carlos Soler's six goals and four assists from a position that starts him further from the goal.

Nearly ready to train Gameiro (hamstring) is expected to return to training with the team soon, according to manager Javi Gracia.

Impact Gameiro has been out since early January but since it's a minor issue and the league has taken a break for cup matches, he could only miss one full game. However, Gameiro has yet to return to training and still may not play over Kang-In Lee even healthy. More should be known by Thursday's match against Osasuna.

Suffers hamstring injury Gameiro was forced off in the 26th minute of Monday's match against Cadiz with a hamstring injury.

Impact It's unfortunate for Gameiro, who likely suffered a recurrence of the same injury he had at the end of December. It will likely keep him out Sunday's trip to Valladolid and possibly more depending on the severity of the injury. Kang-In Lee subbed on for him Monday and could be back in the starting XI if Gameiro misses time.

Impact Gameiro finished off a typical Valencia goal via the counter attack to open the scoring but was also inadvertently responsible for Kenedy's goal that deflected off his boot during a free kick. Gameiro had been out for the past three matches with a hamstring injury but still earned his place over usual starter Maxi Gomez, who was rested in this match. Up next is a home match against Cadiz, and following the red card of Gonzalo Guedes, Gameiro should remain in the starting lineup and get a proper chance to show what he can do.

Impact Gameiro has missed the last three matches with a hamstring injury but was ruled ready to play along with all but a few known absences. He's made three starts from nine appearances this season and it doesn't look likely that he'll be able to find a place among the starters while recovering from a sensitive hamstring injury.

Impact Gameiro is set to miss a third straight match while dealing with this injury. Following Tuesday's match, Gameiro will have over a week to work on his fitness before the Dec. 30 match against Granada, and Kang-In Lee is a likely replacement for the Frenchman in the team.
