Staying with Inter Miami McCarthy had his contract option picked up by Inter Miami following the 2020 season.
Impact McCarthy conceded 13 goals from nine starts in 2020 as the backup to Luis Robles, who broke his arm in training and missed the final two months of the season. Since Luis Robles didn't have his contract picked up, McCarthy could have a bigger role to play in 2021, although other signings may be brought in to bolster a middling defense.

Impact McCarthy didn't stand a chance on the opener and then he conceded a PK in the 24th minute to dig an early hole that Inter Miami couldn't climb out of. McCarthy was the backup goalkeeper for the majority of the season until Luis Robles went down with a season-ending injury. He'll likely be a backup to start the 2021 season unless he makes a strong case to be a starter in the offseason.
