He has made 179 appearances since joining the club, scoring 25 matches over that span. Unfortunately, he will most likely not return this season after undergoing surgery on his thigh in late January, ending his season with 23 appearances in all competitions while notching three goals and four assists. He has been a regular starter ever since joining the club and should continue in that role throughout his extension, especially with recent reports that fellow Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes might be on his way out.
