Chicago Fire agree deal to sign Wigan’s Scotland forward Maloney
Malky Mackay has confirmed Wigan have accepted an offer from Chicago Fire for forward Shaun Maloney.
Maloney has been linked with a move to the MLS for some time and a deal moved a step closer after terms between the clubs were agreed.
The Scotland international, who joined the Latics from Celtic for £1million ($1.5million) in August 2011, is expected to leave the DW Stadium over the weekend.
Maloney looked as though he was heading for Leicester after the two clubs agreed a transfer fee believed to be around £1m (£1.5m), but personal terms proved to be a sticking point,.
Maloney, who came off the bench against Blackburn last Saturday, spent time in the USA when he was recovering from a hip injury.
