Rumor: Manchester City to Inter Milan // Likelihood: A good chance // Talking points: After two seasons in the abyss, Stevan Jovetic may be saying goodbye to the Etihad this summer. Roberto Mancini, the boss at Inter Milan, is reportedly keen on taking the Montenegrin international to the San Siro on a season-long loan deal. The former Fiorentina striker was left out of Manchester City’s Champions League squad in February, and we can only see one outcome here. You’d better start looking for a house in Milan now, Stevan.

Rumor: Manchester United to Southampton // Likelihood: Why not? // Talking points: Following a summer of upheaval at Old Trafford, Javier Hernandez found himself a dream loan move to Real Madrid. After 21 appearances and only four goals, the Manchester United exile could be looking for a new club in the summer. Southampton, in particular, are rumored to be taking a keen interest in the Mexican international. With Manchester United reportedly willing to offer Chicharito in return for the Saints highly-rated right-back Nathaniel Clyne. Ronald Koeman’s side might become a tempting proposition for the striker if they manage to qualify for Europe this season.

Rumor: Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United // Likelihood: Encouraging noises // Talking points: Mats Hummels has definitely been under immense human strain while deciding his future at Dortmund. The German center-back -- who this week said a decision on his future at Die Schwarzgelben is imminent -- is reportedly a $44 million target for Manchester United. Central defense is arguably the most important part of Louis van Gaal’s rebuilding job at Old Trafford. And with Hummels fighting relegation with Dortmund for most of the season, it could be the perfect fit. Even the World Cup winner Franz Beckenbauer gave his seal of approval to the move. “At 26, Hummels is at the best age to make the move to England,” he told Bild.

Rumor: Cologne to Tottenham or Arsenal // Likelihood: Close call // Talking points: Kevin Wimmer’s rumored transfer to the Gunners or Spurs could turn north London into a war zone. According to earlier reports, Tottenham were close to a deal for the 22-year-old. However, over the last week Arsenal are supposedly set to hijack any transfer. The lure of Champions League soccer should be enough to persuade Wimmer -- who has made one appearance for Austria – to put pen to paper. The Gunners are desperate for defensive reinforcements in the summer window and, unless Spurs can offer him more first-team soccer, he should be heading to the Emirates.

Rumor: Liverpool to EPL top four or Real Madrid // Likelihood: Gathering momentum // Talking points: Most people will already be sick of hearing this rumor, but it took an interesting twist this week as Manchester United reportedly entered the race for Sterling. It would appear unlikely that Liverpool would sell the 20-year-old to their greatest rivals; however this is further indication that Europe’s biggest clubs are following his contract situation. If the Red Devils were to pull the transfer off it would go down as one of the most audacious of all-time. Sterling's desire is not yet clear, but this rumor should continue to rumble all summer.

Angel Di Maria
Rumor: Manchester United to PSG // Likelihood: 50/50 // Talking points: Angel di Maria, who cost Manchester United a British record fee of $89.3 million, has struggled to maintain top form since his arrival. The Red Devils pipped PSG to the signing of Di Maria last summer (due to PSG’s Financial Fair Play restrictions) and it seems the Ligue 1 giants could come back in. According to French magazine Le10Sport, Di Maria has been promised to PSG by his agent Jorge Mendes. Sometimes players take a while to settle in to a new style of soccer, and it could worth the wait if United can remain patient. Whether in Manchester or Paris, it’s clear that Di Maria needs to be reborn into the player we know he can be.

Jose Luis Gaya
Rumor: Valencia to Chelsea // Likelihood: A good bet // Talking points: Chelsea are looking to show no mercy in the transfer market this summer. Valencia left-back Jose Luis Gaya is the latest name to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. The Spanish under-21 international has a $20.3 million release clause in this contract at the Mestalla and the Blues are reportedly willing to match it. Felipe Luis, who has been linked with a return to Atletico Madrid, has struggled to establish himself as the number one left-back under Mourinho, and Gaya will be seen as a good prospect.

Rumor: Real Madrid to Manchester United // Likelihood: Nailed on // Talking points: Piece by piece, Louis van Gaal is assembling a Manchester United squad that can again challenge for honors at the highest level. The Dutch boss is set to be handed another huge transfer war chest for players, and according to reports Sami Khedira looks to be a cert. The only potential stumbling block was supposedly the German international’s huge wages -- but with no transfer fee to pay, it seems United will match his $298,000-a-week demands.

Rumor: Arsenal to Chelsea // Likelihood: Nervous wait // Talking points: Theo Walcott has only made 31 appearances for Arsenal over the last two seasons (mainly due to injury and poor form) and could maybe do with some new faith elsewhere. The 27-year-old, who has a year remaining on his contract at the Emirates, is yet to be offered new terms. A move across London to Chelsea seems unlikely, but reports suggest the winger boasts many admirers at Stamford Bridge. If the Blues are interested in the speed merchant then a move on a free transfer in 12 months’ time is more likely.

Rumor: Liverpool to Chelsea // Likelihood: Very unlikely // Talking points: There is always a temptation for a player to swap a club for the possibility of Champions League soccer. For Liverpool and Jordan Henderson, the prospects of making the top four looks increasingly unlikely this season. After a turbulent start to his Reds career, Henderson is now looking the real deal, prompting clubs like Chelsea to monitor his situation. The Daily Star reported over the last week that the England midfielder has rejected a new offer at Anfield. However, just days earlier Henderson said: “I love playing football for Liverpool and I want to be there for many years.”
