RUMOR: Everton to Manchester City// Likelihood: Grass not always greener// When Barkley is fit this boy is the business and last week he was linked with a move to Premier League champions Manchester City. The gloves are off once again for the Toffees who spend a lot of their time fending off attacks from all sides in a bid to grab their best players. Wayne Rooney, Leighton Baines, Seamus Coleman and ahem…Marouane Fellaini. Blues boss Roberto Martinez says his club have not received any offers and Barkley should remember those young players that joined City with bags of potential and disappeared (Scott Sinclar, Jack Rodwell).

RUMOR: Napoli to Liverpool// Likelihood: Don’t think so// Now we know why Liverpool got Balotelli at such a bargain price. The Italian has been chasing shadows in a Reds shirt or maybe that should read "wandering about doing very little running at all." The fact is Balotelli has about ten per cent of Suarez’s talent and the Italian either needs to up his game or Liverpool must get someone to replace him. The good news for the club’s fans is that Brendan Rodgers is planning a £30 million ($48.65million) January move for Higuain, but the Argentine striker is happy where he is.

RUMOR: Juventus to Manchester United// Likelihood: A possibility/ These are the facts. Manchester United have one fit center-back and have kept one clean sheet all season – and that came against a QPR side that looked like they’d rather have been somewhere else. Juventus are in the midst of an incredible run, winning 12 consecutive games which takes in the embers of last season and they have not conceded a goal in their last 10 matches either. Ogbonna would be an excellent choice for United. At £12 million ($19.5 million) that sounds like good business but Ogbonna seems happy where he is.

RUMOR: Sporting Lisbon to Arsenal// Likelihood: Off the agenda// Despite being a selling club, Sporting Lisbon seem to have pulled off the impossible and convinced midfielder Carvalho to sign a new contract, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola. Both Arsenal and Manchester United were thought to be interested in the Portugal international but it now looks like he’s staying put. So now you now.

RUMOR: Unemployed to PSG// Likelihood: Blanc safe for now// Le Parisien believes that Laurent Blanc’s days as PSG coach could be numbered if the French champions perform badly against Barcelona in the Champions League. Not only that, Mancini is thought to be the man being lined up to fill the vacuum left by Blanc’s potential exit. Losing to Barca would be no disgrace but PSG would be moving further away from their goals if they fail to reach the knockout stage. Oh, and did we tell you that Ibrahimovic isn’t fit to play. Yikes!

RUMOR: Malaga to Arsenal// Likelihood: Interesting prospect// Atunes is right up Wenger’s street. Experienced, solid and a bargain! Who can say whether he is joining Arsenal but the contract of the Portuguese left-back runs out in 2016 and he has yet to agree a new deal. The transfer fee is thought to be around £2.5 million ($4 million) which would please the thrifty Wenger. With Debuchy and Monreal on the casualty list, January can’t come soon enough for the Gunners.

RUMOR: Leaving Manchester United// Likelihood: Time looks to be up// Even in the midst of an injury crisis Ashley Young is not trusted by Louis van Gaal. Still, life goes on eh Ashley? The former England international has been warming the bench during the month of September but he could be playing elsewhere in January. His former club Aston Villa are interested in bringing him back, while Sunderland and Southampton are also in the mix. New Year could be an interesting time for Young.

RUMOR: Real Madrid to Liverpool// Likelihood: Not so sure// So, if not Higuain then who? Word has it that Rodgers is also looking at Real Madrid forward Benzema, who has hardly got off to a flying start himself. The European champions have scored 20 goals from their six games in La Liga and from his five starts Benzema has returned just one goal. Javier Hernandez has played for just 52 minutes and has more goals. Benzema signed a new deal in August but is now said to be unhappy at the Bernabeu. Where’s he going to fit in when Sturridge returns? We don’t think Rodgers will dive in on this one.

RUMOR: Manchester United to Valencia// Likelihood: Ball in Mata’s court// Mata got another taste at the weekend of what life is going to be like now that Falcao is fit and in the starting line-up. The Spaniard is clearly a falling star at United. Even when the impetuous Rooney was sent off against West Ham, Mata’s backside remained parked on the subs’ bench. Even Tom Thorpe came on ahead of him. Valencia have been linked with their former player but what matters most to Mata, money or playing time?

RUMOR: Liverpool to Real Madrid// Likelihood: Think he’ll stay// In the early days you could never tell whether Sterling had the temperament to make it but he has been one of the bright spots in Liverpool’s underwhelming start to the season. The 19-year-old attacker is on a relatively low salary compared to some of the other star names at Anfield, and last week it was reported that Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti had made Sterling his number one priority. We don’t buy this one. Real Madrid have plenty of attackers and although Sterling is one for the future he’s getting all the game time he needs and rumor has it a salary hike of more than triple his current earnings is coming his way.
