City bossed the early going in the game, at only point controlling 85% of the possession. But while Yaya Toure and Fernandinho were far better than Danny Drinkwater and Gokhan Inler, they were not able to make that dominance pay off. N’Golo Kante was the Leicester player who looked uncowed, and his continuing excellent form was a major reason the Foxes were able to weather the storm.
Sergio Aguero’s not there yet ...
Wilfried Bony is likely to be an unhappy boy tonight after watching a clearly unfit Aguero limp around for an hour in his stead. To be sure, Bony is not the striker Aguero is – but it’s hard to understand why City keep fielding a player who is only 60% fit in big matches. Aguero has been brittle all season long; wouldn’t manager Manuel Pellegrini be better off giving him more time to get up to speed?
... but he should have been awarded a penalty
Aguero does have one legitimate complaint: he was taken out by Inler in the box on the hour mark and should have been given a chance from the spot. Inler clearly got the man and not the ball and ref Craig Pawson simply blew the call.

Kasper Schmeichel showing his class
Earlier this season, Schmeichel complained about always being in the shadow of his father. “Why do people think it’s OK to tell me I’ll never be as good as my Dad?” he asked. After tonight, people may reconsider their assessment as he is blossoming into one of the better netminders in the league. His superb stop on Raheem Sterling summed up his quality and confidence, making a single-handed palm over the bar off a swerving stinger look easy.

Arsenal the big winners Monday
Arsenal, who dropped three points over the festive period, have to be delighted to have seen the Foxes drop four and City drop two. That has the Gunners in prime position as they head into a run of eminently matches. There are no “easy” games in this league, but consider that the Gunners are playing without several key players. If they get them back for the home stretch, look out.
