The early years
David Beckham was part of the famous Manchester United 'Class of 92,' a highly talented (and incredibly successful) group of players that included Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, and Paul Scholes.
To the top!
Beckham won his first league title with Manchester United during the 1995-96 season. He would win a total of six Premier League titles during his time with United.
Game to forget
During the World Cup second round match between Argentina and England on June 30, 1998 at Geoffroy Guichard stadium in Saint-Etienne, Beckham was sent out of the field after getting a red card in the 47th minute of the game after he kicked Argentina's Diego Simeone. England went on to lose the match on penalty kicks, and were knocked out of the World Cup. Beckham was widely blamed for the defeat.
In the 1998–99 season, Beckham and United won the Treble of the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League, a rare and unique feat in soccer.
Beckham infamously missed a penalty kick for England in 2004 during the European Championship. He was the first to kick during the shootout. He struck his shot over the bar, and England lost to Portugal.
From 2003 to 2007, Beckham played for Real Madrid in La Liga, where he won the league title in his final season with the Spanish giants.
A new adventure
Beckham signed for the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2007, a five-year deal to play for the MLS side. His presence in the US league has been a huge boost for soccer in America.
Beckham broke Bobby Moore's outfield appearance record for England with a 109th cap in a 4-0 friendly win over Slovakia at Wembley in 2009.
During 2010, Beckham went on a loan spell to AC Milan. He twisted his left ankle during the final minutes of the match against Chievo, limped off the field before he was stretchered away in pain and in tears. The surgeon who operated on David Beckham's ruptured Achilles tendon ruled out any possibility of the England star recovering in time for the 2010 World Cup.
Hoist the Cup
After signing with the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2007, Beckham finally lifted the MLS Cup on November 20, 2011. His final competitive match for the Galaxy will be the 2012 MLS cup, held on December 1 at the Home Depot Center.
