San Diego Buzz: Enberg announces retirement and Chargers face Norv

On Sunday, Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers will play agianst their former head coach Norv Turner, who is now the offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings.

SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Chargers take off for Minnesota today, which is usual for a Sunday road game. But what makes this week’s game special is that the Bolts will be playing against their former head coach Norv Turner for the first time, who is now the offensive coordinator for the Vikings. If you missed last week’s disappointing loss to the Bengals, Michael Gehlken and Kevin Acee of the SD Union-Tribune gave a good summary of the week’s happenings.

Next season will be a bittersweet one for many sports fans across the nation, as two of America’s greatest broadcasters will be retiring at the end of the 2016 MLB season. The Dodgers’ Vin Scully will make his last run next year, and on Wednesday night Padres’ play-by-play man Dick Enberg announced 2016 will be his final year as well. Enberg is one of just two people to be enshrined in the Halls of Fame for baseball, football and basketball, and was the voice many generations listened to on some of the biggest games this country has ever seen. When you look at his resume, it’s pretty astonishing to see how many awards and accomplishments this man has had, as well as how big an impact he had on sports fans every where.

It’s probably safe to say that Philip Rivers is a Chargers Hall of Famer at this point in his career. The Chargers’ quarterback has been with the team his entire career and has numerours franchise records alongside a few NFL records as well. Last week he passed Dan Fouts for the most career passing touchdowns in franchise history and now has 256 heading into Week 3 of the 2015 season. So the folks @TheBuzzer asked the question, is Philip Rivers an NFL Hall of Famer?
