Located in one of San Diego’s most underserved communities, the Jackie Robinson Family YMCA has served southeast San Diego since 1943. Last year, construction started on a new 50,000 square-foot facility that will give the Jackie Robinson Y opportunity to serve more kids, adults and families for generations to come.
Expected to open Fall 2017, the new facility will feature a state-of-the-art fitness and wellness center, a child watch center and Kid’s Adventure Land, an intergenerational room, member lounge, as well as a Major League Baseball All-Star Sports Complex, pictured here.
The facility will be a place for all ages to spend time together and be active.
The Jackie Robinson Family YMCA is part of the YMCA of San Diego County, a non-profit dedicated to improving the quality of human life and to helping all people realize their fullest potential as children of God through development of the spirit, mind and body. Through a variety of programs and services focused on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y unites men, women and children – regardless of age, income or background – to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve the nation’s health and well-being, and provide opportunities to give back and support neighbors. The 21st Annual Jackie Robinson Family YMCA Gala
April 15, 2017
Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina
The Annual YMCA of San Diego County Tribute to Jackie Robinson Gala was originally established to honor the 50th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier in baseball.
Since the first event in 1997, the Jackie Robinson Family YMCA has awarded over $300,000 to 184 students in Southeastern San Diego to help them pursue their dreams of higher education.
Through the generosity of our inspired patrons, close to $2,000,000 has been dedicated to program support for kids and families living in San Diego County’s most critical community.
