Longtime PGA Professional Michael Breed Joins Digital Coverage

NEW YORK – FOX Sports’ 2018 slate of USGA championships begins next week with the 73rd U.S. Women’s Open Championship, live from Shoal Creek in Shoal Creek, Ala. For the first time ever, viewers will experience an uninterrupted broadcast of the entire U.S. Women’s Open on FOX, FS1, FOX Sports GO and as part of the USGA Championships on FOX presented by Rolex.

Live championship coverage begins Wednesday, May 30 at 11:00 AM ET on FS1 with WEDNESDAY AT THE U.S. WOMEN’S OPEN, featuring practice round content, player interviews and a first look at this year’s field.

On Thursday, May 31 and Friday, June 1, early competition coverage begins on from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM ET, while FS1 picks up the first and second round action from 3:00 to 8:00 PM ET. The third and final rounds air on the FOX broadcast network on Saturday and Sunday, June 2-3, from 2:00 to 7:00 PM ET. In addition to a concurrent live stream of each day’s action, the FOX Sports App also offers a bonus featured groups channel throughout the championship.

On Thursday and Friday, Shane Bacon calls play-by-play alongside analysts Brad Faxon and Juli Inkster, a seven-time LPGA Tour major winner and two-time U.S. Women’s Open champion. Inkster is joined by Emmy Award-winning broadcaster Joe Buck and lead analyst Paul Azinger in the 18th Tower for the third and final rounds.

On-course reporting duties are performed by 14-year LPGA Tour veteran Nicole Castrale and longtime broadcaster Ken Brown; the duo is joined on-course by Faxon over the weekend. Reporter Holly Sonders conducts interviews, and former USGA Executive Director David Fay offers rules analysis.

Digital coverage features longtime PGA professional and veteran broadcaster Michael Breed, play-by-play announcer Ned Michaels and on-course reporter Brett Quigley. Breed is a newcomer to the FOX Sports team but brings a wealth of television experience, having previously hosted “The Golf Fix,” which ran for nearly 400 episodes across eight years on the Golf Channel. Currently, he also serves as Golf Digest’s Chief Digital Instructor, curating and creating instructional content for the magazine’s digital game-improvement platform.

FOX Sports supplements its live golf coverage with two films from its EPICS series, beginning on Thursday at 8:00 PM ET on FS1 with EPICS: TWO WINNERS, an hour-long film profiling Se Ri Pak’s unlikely victory in the 1998 U.S. Women’s Open, which galvanized a wave of South Korean female golfers who are now among the biggest names on the LPGA Tour. On Sunday, EPICS: TIGER AND ROCCO premieres on the FOX broadcast network at 1:00 PM ET, featuring the dramatic Monday playoff between Tiger Woods and Rocco Mediate for the 2008 U.S. Open Championship.
