Wisconsin wins its first Big Ten hockey game

The Wisconsin men’s hockey squad stormed past Penn State by a 7-1 margin Friday, giving the Badgers their first-ever Big Ten conference win.

The No. 17-ranked Badgers (5-5-1, 1-2-0 Big Ten) used seven different goal scorers to rout the Nittany Lions (3-8-1, 0-1-0 Big Ten) at the Kohl Center.

Joseph LaBate had three assists to pace the Badgers. Meanwhile, in net, Joel Rumpel produced 27 saves.

Penn State got its lone goal courtesy of Tommy Olczyk, midway through the first period.
