The Tampa Bay Rays left-hander was on the mound Sunday at Charlotte Sports Park with a heavier ball than normal to promote “Bowl for Kids’ Sake,” a Big Brothers Big Sisters fundraiser to be held March 29 that will benefit the organization in the Tampa Bay region.
It’s the second consecutive year the returning American League Cy Young Award winner has participated in the event, one that aims to raise funds that will help the program pair kids with volunteers in an effective way. Last year, more than $27,000 were raised.
“Being able to hang out with somebody older than you is always fun,” said Price, who claims his best bowling score is 256. “It’s something I definitely cherished as a kid (having brothers as family members) and I still do, today. I was very fortunate to have two older brothers.”
