US teen Hernandez wins title at FINA Diving Grand Prix

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. (AP) — Teenager Hailey Hernandez won the women's 3-meter title, while divers from Mexico won two events at the FINA Diving Grand Prix.

The meet is being held in the U.S. for the first time in six years.

Hernandez, a 16-year-old from Southlake, Texas, scored 312.75 points to edge Italy's Elena Bertocchi by 4.6 points for 3-meter gold on Saturday. Melany Hernandez of Mexico, who is no relation to the American, took bronze.

Randall Willars Valdez of Mexico won the men's 10-meter title with 479.55 points. Matthew Dixon of Britain was second and Brandon Loschiavo of the U.S. took third.

In women's 3-meter syncho, Phoebe Banks and Emily Martin of Britain won with 300.36. Australians Anabelle Smith and Melissa Wu were second and Americans Katrina Young and Samantha Bromberg earned bronze.

The men's 3-meter synchro title went to Jordan Houlden and Anthony of Britain with 384.93. Adan Zuniga and Alejandro Daniel Islas Arroyo of Mexico finished second. Americans Mark Anderson and Jordan Windle took bronze.

Mexico's Diego Balleza and Maria Sanchez won the mixed synchro title with 308.88. Italians Noemi Batki and Maicol Verzotta finished second. Sophia McAfree and Maxwell Weinrich of the U.S. were third.
