FOX Sports North’s Robby Incmikoski checked in from Kansas City with an update on a trio of injured Twins:
Joe Mauer took batting practice today and said he’s feeling much better. He might not play in either of the next two games against the Royals, but the Twins plan to use him at designated hitter and get him some innings behind the plate in the season-ending series against Toronto at Target Field.
Jim Thome returned to Minnesota to receive treatment on his sore back. He was examined by a doctor who confirmed that the injury is muscular in nature. The Twins expect him to be available to DH against the Blue Jays.
J.J. Hardy also returned to Minnesota to be checked out by team doctors. He said the swelling in his knee is gone and he’s feeling fine. Like Thome, the team expects Hardy to be available to play against Toronto.
