Three Takeaways from the Blue Jackets loss to Pittsburgh

One: While not getting the win and two points, Columbus played a very good game against one of the best teams in the league. They never gave up and kept fighting until the final horn. This was 60 minutes of hockey that reminded me of their play in the latter half of last season. You can’t fault the effort they put forth.

Two: The Blue Jackets had an aggressive, hard fore-check going all night while also clogging the neutral one. The D-men were pinching in at the appropriate times and made solid defensive plays. They limited Pittsburgh’s odd-man rushes and took the fight to the Penguins. All-in-all, a good foundation to build upon.
Three: Keep your emotions in check. Brandon Dubinsky took a needless penalty with an untimely slash (10 minute misconduct and game misconduct). His absence hurt the club more than it helped. Let your play on the ice do the talking.
