The East Metro Showcase

The East Metro Showcase, held at St. Paul Johnson this weekend, features three defending Minnesota state champions in Class A Minnesota Transitions, Class AAA Saint Paul Johnson and Class AAAA Hopkins facing some of the top teams in Wisconsin. will be in attendance with recaps of all the games and the latest recruiting news of the top players.

Friday Jan 21
4 PM – St. John’s NW Military Academy vs. Minnesota Transitions
6 PM – Milwaukee Riverside vs. Hopkins
8 PM – Superior vs. St. Paul Johnson

St. John’s NW Military Academy (8-0) is making a return trip to the East Metro Showcase and will play both Friday and Saturday. Kevin Mays, a 6-foot-4 senior, is leading the Lancers with 20.6 points and 12.1 rebounds per game. He is also a standout wide receiver on the gridiron. Mays is joined by three other double figure scorers. Fellow senior D.J. Mlachnik, is contributing 16.1 and a team-best 5.4 assists per game. Miles Holmes is averaging 15.6 points and Zachary Detmer adds 10.0 points.

Minnesota Transitions (7-2) finished 30-3 last season, winning the Class A state title with a 61-52 victory over Sebakia. The Wolves are led by Kyle Noreen, who averaged 19.2 points, 7.2 assists, 7.8 rebounds, 5.3 steals and 1.2 blocked shots per game last season. His older brother, Kevin, was Minnesota
