The Savannah Bananas, a collegiate summer league team in the Coastal Plain League, have a new bat-dog for the summer in the form of a seven-week-old puppy named Daisy.

Little Daisy earned her new job after she was found abandoned and crying in the parking lot of Grayson Stadium in Savannah, Ga. She had no tags, collar or microchip, so Bananas president Jared Orton and his wife Kelsey adopted little Daisy. After she was deemed healthy by a local veterinarian, the couple put her to work as the team’s new bat-dog.

According to the adorable footage from a local news report, Daisy is not quite big enough to pick up a baseball yet, but she seems to really have a nose for the ball.

Perhaps if she works hard enough this summer, she can one day reach the ranks of some of the more well-known dogs in sports, including local Georgia celebrity Uga X, the mascot for the Georgia Bulldogs.

Hopefully Daisy’s new owners will not follow in the path of tennis star and dog owner Serena Williams, who recently got very sick after eating her dog’s food.
